When we are in a foreign country we have the opportunity to test different kinds of food. Actually, in Trinidad and Tobago it is better, because I have roommates that come from other countries around South America, specifically from Venezuela and Colombia. Last Saturday my roommates invited me to share their dinner. They asked me if I could give them some ingredients to prepare our lunch. Then, I gave the chicken, some eggs and olive oil. Most of my friends are Venezuelan, One of them, Jorge, is known as an excellent cook so he was delegated the role of 'chef'. Jorge cooked a traditional kind of food from Venezuela, it is called in Spanish by “Papas Gratinadas y Pollo la plancha, Ensalanda” a delicious food made of potatoes, chicken and vegetables. At first I thought about refusing it, because sometimes I have prejudice of different foods that I have not already tested. But as I had promised to my sister Cinthia, I tested it and it was really good!!!
I love this kind of situation when we can share not only our food but also friendship and knowledge about each other.
At night my friends invited me to go out with them to a bar, everybody knows that I don’t drink alcohol, but soda was available too; so I accepted immediately. As you can see in the video, it is a good place, many people surrounding us and a lot of beer. Coincidently there was a Colombian singer at this bar, his name is Havana, and he sang Latina America and Caribbean music like “Salsa, Meringue and Socca”. In that bar there are flags from different countries include Brazil. I felt excited when he asked if there was any Brazilian citizen over there, and definitely I screamed aloud responding to him: “yes, over here, I am Brazilian”!!! Another interesting thing happened when I met a British man, I know there are many different people in Trinidad and Tobago that come from all over the world, but I hadn't expected that I would find one English man at the same bar. On the video, he sent a short messenge to Brazil. (laughing). Indeed, it was an excellent day.
