A special person in my life...

Today is my last day in Brazil before my traveling to my exchange. I would like to be grateful  to some special people that are part of my life. First, I need to recognize how God has been blessing  me during my whole existence. I have never thought that I could be happy and satisfied as I am feeling right now. When we are close to a new experience, just at this time we can imagine clearer how important our family is, because without them I will never have any condition to do such things. I Thank very much to my wife Adelma. Dearest, without you I believe I wouldn't have the strength to support life difficulties. My mother-in-law for been patience all the time and also to my little son, his smile make me feel better and happier! I can't forget my students because they are already my family forever! But the special person whose I want to mention is my sister Cinthia. She believed me all the time, gave me good advices about my future and she is always present when I am in trouble. Without her helps my stay abroad in Trinidad and Tobago would be almost impossible to happen. For uncountable reasons I want to say to you Débora Pessôa: THANK YOU VERY MUCH. I wish someday that I will be able to repay all your kindness.  God Bless you!

with love

Are you happy?

It is really necessary to be sure about what kind of job we will spend through our life. Many people believe we should look for a job by which we will make a lot of money, no matter if you will enjoy or be happy with that reality. I have a different point of view on it. I don’t care if I will be rich. I appreciate people who live by their dreams. In my opinion, it is really necessary to work in a kind of job that matches with your personality and skills. The future is unsafe, but this is what we can foresee. Would you like to be a satisfied person? You must work for what you like, not for the money you would like to have! So, I am happy for being a teacher!!!

Connect with English

Most people might think that would be a minor decision or dream in my life. Because I will be out of home for just 2 months and it will not be a really great cultural shock. But to me, it sounds different. Have you ever watched “Connect With English”? A video instructional series in English as a second language for college and high school classrooms and adult learners; 50 fifteen-minute video programs, produced by WGBH Boston with books from the McGraw-Hill Companies, in 1998. If you have an up intermediate English level you will be able to follow and understand that series. Through the story of Rebecca, an aspiring singer on a journey across America, “Connect With English” touches on life's important issues: leaving home, parenting, education, work, love, success, and loss. All of the characters use meaningful, natural language that students can put to work immediately in their own lives.  So it did in my life, and it connected with me!

I came from a poor family. I had food and hosting through my infancy and adolescence, but not more than it. My mother has been having mental problems for all her life, and for sure it made a delay in my graduation and particular life. To overcome that, I needed effort and it hasn’t being easy. But life has taught me that, no matter how big your problem is, you can solve it and follow all of your dreams.
I recommend this video, even though because you will improve your listen, but the message will bring significance in your life.

Why Trinidad and Tobago?

Many people will ask me why I have chosen Trinidad and Tobago to study abroad. Evidently, the most known and visited countries around of the world are the USA, UK, Canada, Australia and etc. It happens when you want to learn English, but in the other hand there are others opportunities to exchange. If you do a scarcely research on web, hardly you will find suitable information about another destiny in our planet. I can include a developing country which is South Africa, by which, they supported a brilliant world cup in 2010, but this possibility is as far as the others already quoted. Beyond Trinidad and Tobago, there are others countries nearby Brazil that they speak English as first language. I could describe Guyana which is located in the South America Continent like our country is. Considering Caribbean countries they are: Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Puerto Rico, St. Lucia, Antigua and Barbuda, Grenada, Dominica, Saint Kitts and Nevis. As you see, a lot of possibilities to study English.

Surely we need to take some precautions before leaving our home. We must be sure that our expectations will be supplied. That is what I did before I chose where I would like to study. I need to agree with you that the USA and UK might be one of the best destinations. Also you need to agree with me that others possibilities are available, especially when you don’t have enough money to go to the ‘famous’ countries.

The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago or (T&T) has unique that is found just there.  T&T was a Spanish colony from the times of Christopher Columbus to 1802, when it was ceded to Britain. The country obtained independence in 1962, becoming a republic in 1976. Unlike most of the English-speaking Caribbean, Trinidad and Tobago's economy is primarily industrial, with an emphasis on petroleum and petrochemicals. It means that T&T has a HDI (0.736) higher than Brazil, a population about 1.300.000 and 98% of the population is literate. If you are looking for a paradise with beautiful beaches, warm people and a unique fauna and flora and at the same time you would like to learn or improve English, T&T will be able to provide that to you.

The Island of T&T has appropriate English Courses. I’m going to study at Austin Learn Centre. It seems to be a very good institution. I’m looking forward that, and I hope I will have an excellent graduation in T&T.

First Post

Hi everyone!!!

Before describing my “adventure” in Trinidad and Tobago, I would like to begin my comments on this blog. Friends, you have no Idea how anxious I am!!! The two last months were the most difficult in my life. My mind is in an incredible mad, it has been so many years since I had planned my exchange in a country which is a native English speaker. Being a dreamer has a price!!! I really would like to be grateful with all of you! But I need to mention some people that were really crucial to that dream become true. My students are part of this because they believed in my potential all the time, my family who gave me enough strength to keep improving my knowledge, specially my sister Cinthia who borrowed me the budget to make my traveling possible (laughing), and surely I want to say thanks to God, because everything just happen with His permission.

I had a dream, and I understand it is closer to become true. I can remember the first day when I wished to be a fluently English speaker, and believe me, it hasn’t been easy! Although I really love learning and teaching that language. If you have anything to achieve, any goal to reach, go for it! No matter how difficult it will be, make all the possibilities appear in your life. My journey has not finished yet, just few steps have been done. I am looking forward my Course in T&T where I will be able to improve more and more…

Please, follow me on my bog, I would like to see your comments about my articles, keep in touch with me, foreign people are welcome.
